Learning the ABCs (Anti-Bribery and Corruption) issues for NZ – August 2016

16 August 2016:
Gary presented at an ACAMS seminar event hosted by KPMG in Auckland, on the topic of Anti-Bribery and Corruption (“ABC”) issues for New Zealand.  An under-explored topic for New Zealand, an update on these issues is timely and thought-provoking, since complacency about corruption is a significant risk.  The seminar covered detection or prevention measures that explore the overlap of ABC with AML programmes, the legal framework and International Conventions that apply, current issues, investigations, and case studies. We also canvassed types of risk factors and indicators that financial institutions can watch out for in transactions using their services.   Star speakers/panel members alongside Gary were: Nick Paterson, General Manager of Investigations, Serious Fraud Office Carolyn Cody, Financial Intelligence Unit, NZ Police.

John Nash, Manager (International Revenue Strategy), Inland Revenue
